It’s been about 10 months since I was introduced to doTerra, and I really am greatful because my life has changed in so many ways. I am officially prescription free now with the blessing of my doctor. It just occured to me the other day how long it has been since I have been to the pharmacy counter.
Making a fresh start with the new year, I am going through my cabinets, (dumped 2 large kitchen trash bags out of the bathroom) clearing them of all the store bought products that we no longer want to use or need because we have found safe and healthy replacements.
Various chemicals like parabens that come in our personal care products are believed to be responsible for many of the cancers we see so prevalent today.
Here are some things we now use:
I have over the years tried nearly every deodorant that the health food store has to offer and I have never been satisfied. It has always concerned me because deodorant is something that has long been known to cause cancer.
The option: Purify essential oil. IT WORKS!!!! and really good!! My husband can even use it and he is in construction, crawling in hot stuffy attics at times and he doesn’t smell at the end of the day!
We apply the oil directly to the underarms, undiluted.
It’s only $18 and it will last for months.
I’m pretty picky about my laundry, it has to come clean and smell clean too. So I was really a skeptic when I tried this. But again I LOVE IT! And, it is so cheap, your savings on what you spend on laundry detergent alone will be phenomenal. It is great for sensitive skin.
All of these items can be found at WalMart
1 Bar Nels Naptha soap
1 Cup Borax
1 Cup Washing Soda
You will need to grate the bar of soap, if you have a food processor it will be much easier. Add the Borax and Washing Soda. Then run it through your blender if you hand grated about 1 cup at a time time which will make the Nels break down into finer bits.
Then add your favorite essential oils, On Gurad would be great when killing bacteria is really important. Lavender, Wild Orange, Lemon or whatever you love the smell of, add it.
Now I am not a lover of the smell of Nels Naptha, but it is growing on me. I have heard there are bars of soap that can be used instead that are pure and have no scent. I may try that with my next batch. Put it in an air tight container, and I have a tiny little scoop right inside.
You will only need about 1 TBL for an average load or maybe 2 TBLS for very large or extra dirty clothes. I have a front loader and put the soap right in with the clothes, not through the dispenser, it didn’t dissolve quick enough and there was quite a bit left.
Anti-Aging Facial Moisturizer
This is something else I love. I can honestly say that I have never found a store bought moisturizer or anti-aging cream that actually did what it said it would do. But this will do it all.
You simply need to combine Frankincense and quality coconut oil and put it on your face. I can’t vouch for any other type of oil, but good coconut oil will quickly absorb into your skin, leaving it soft.
Hopefully you already have or plan on having Frankincense in your home, so it is just one more great thing Frankincense does.
My husband has been using Head and Shoulders for as long as I remember because his head just is itchy. So we set out to find a better option. Simply we purchased an organic shampoo and then added Peppermint and Lavender.
I recommend starting with a smaller bottle so that you can make samples until you find the right combination for you. Be sure to write down how many drops of each oil you put in the sample bottle so you can adjust from there.
