Favorite Essential Oil Uses for Summer

There are endless ways to use your essential oils all year long. Here are some of my favorite essential oil uses for summer.

Lavender is a great everything oil and is excellent for soothing the skin. After sun care, minor scratches, scrapes…simply apply Lavender with a little Fractionated Coconut Oil.

For after sun care, we use a combination of Lavender, Peppermint and Frankincense. Those Aloe based products you find on the store shelves are full of all kinds of unhealthy synthetic chemicals, stuff you can’t even pronounce that can be irritating to the skin all on their own.

You can make your own concoction ahead of time in a jar of organic coconut oil and 8-10 drops each of Lavender, Peppermint and Frankincense. Even keep in the fridge for an extra cool treat. It is so soothing and cooling. Helps to minimize peeling and flaking.

That very same trio is excellent as an all around cream. Any time skin is experiencing minor irritation.

For daily cleansing and for a way to make any glass of water delicious, look to your citrus oils. Grapefruit is my personal favorite, then Lime, but Lemon and Wild Orange are also fabulous too. Just a couple of drops is all you need, the kids will love it too. It’s a great way to get them to drink more water. Be sure to follow label instructions and only consume essential oils if you see a food label.

The citrus oils are great to diffuse in the summer, they just smell so light, airy and refreshing. Kind of spa like, especially the Wild Orange.

The citrus oils are a great addition to many summer food favorites. Love Lime in the guacamole and “we eat it all up”. Lemon and Lime are great additions to a refreshing cheese cake.

Remember a little goes a long way, so add a drop at a time until you reach perfection. I like to put them in my home-made salad dressings. Wild Orange in an Organic Olive Oil and Apple Cider Vinegar with a little garlic is delicious over a giant summer salad. Add the citrus oils to your smoothies too! There is also a great fruit dip recipe you can Google, that is great for entertaining or taking to a party.

To support soft and smooth skin you might try this with your Grapefruit essential oil. Put a full bottle of Grapefruit into a full bottle of Fractionated Coconut Oil and apply it to your skin immediately after your shower. Just put it everywhere. Smells wonderful and your skin will love you for it.

Having the kids home for the summer, we know you love it. But honestly those long road trips or constant shuffling them in the car to this party, game or event can take its toll eventually. Tension can become a little high, reach for the Tension Blend. Apply it to the back of neck, over the shoulders, & on the temples (avoiding the eyes). It works fabulously. In a pinch if you don’t have the Tension Blend, Peppermint, Lavender & Frankincense layered are helpful.

For occasional ear discomfort, melaleuca and basil are very soothing when applied all around the ear. Do not put drops of any essential oil into the ear canal ever.

Making your own hand cleaner to carry with you. It is toxin free.  I make my own hand cleaner with water and a few drops of the Protective blend. A small spray bottle works well too. Spray down your hands, tables in restaurants, door knobs, and shopping carts Safe enough to drink, so no worries.

Really hot outside? Put a little Peppermint in another spray bottle and give yourself a little spray down. By the way, it works great for ants, they hate it and you can just spritz it all around the kitchen counters, anywhere ants are coming in. I love the fact that it is also non toxic, safe for small children and your pets.

When out playing this summer and some of you play really hard, sore muscles are gonna happen. Reach for the Blue Soothing Blend. It comes in an oil blend or my favorite and the most economical way to use is the rub. Learned a little trick recently….apply a slightly thicker application and don’t rub it all in. Leave a white film that will slowly enter your body a little over time.

Essential oils are best used regularly. To receive their full benefit, use them every day. They are always supporting your body in ways you never even thought about. Don’t wait for back to school to start applying the the Protective Blend. Use it every day now to support the immune system before they ever get to school.

So use your oils. If you got em, use em!! If you don’t got em, then get em!!
